Addie DeCoster

For my service project, I am working in the Memory Care facilities at Abe’s Garden. Much of what I do as a volunteer is focused on visiting with the residents and helping the staff. For my research, I will be looking into how being placed in an assisted living facility affects the mental health of both the residents and their family members. Throughout my project, I have learned how to interact with the residents based on how they are feeling that day and what sort of activities will make them feel better. This experience has helped me grow as an individual with more empathy, patience, and compassion for the residents and their families.
