Second Grade Village, Ensworld

by Evie Coates
Welcome to the lovely Second Grade Village, Ensworld, USA (population 72)!! Next time you’re on the Red Gables campus, please stop by and behold the cheerful beauty for yourself (on the wall right outside the LS faculty lounge).
From blob to slab to square to triangle, from door and window to alphabet noodle names and polka dotty, stripey textures, second grade artists toiled diligently to form dear little houses out of everyone’s favorite medium…CLAY!!! They glazed their works thoroughly and carefully, using glazes with names like blush, jade, clover, and sunflower. Their own creative instincts led them to some delightful color schemes!  ⁣
Each house is individually marvelous and precious, but boy do they pack a wallop of happiness when all are displayed as a collective “village.”

(Everyone's first question is "HOW are they hanging up there?!" The answer: Each house has a jumbo paper clip hot glued to the back, then each house is carefully hung upon a firmly angled pushpin. The rest is up to the guardian angels of all our wondrous works of student art!)
Finally, if you know a second grader, give them a congratulatory high five for being such brave and hard-working artists!
