We Love Seeing You

Morgan Ogilvie '95

We love hearing from you! Read more from alum artist Morgan Ogilvie '95 on her recent exhibition.
"My recent solo exhibition held on September 1st at Lipscomb University's Hutcheson Gallery, entitled False Flags, was a delightful experience. It was a joy to work with the art department which is led by Rocky Horton as well as the gallery director, Jamie Reschke.

This body of work--composed of 11 oil paintings—takes inspiration from an episode of Columbo, the kitschy '70s detective series set in Los Angeles. A woman believes she has witnessed a crime but is surrounded by people who either doubt or actively seek to manipulate her. I see her predicament as an apt allegory for our own cultural moment where fact and fiction often blur.

I can't say enough about how engaged and lovely the Lipscomb students were. During my lecture on these paintings, they asked thoughtful questions, as did the faculty. Having received an MFA at CalArts in Los Angeles in 2020, I am very happy to be surrounded by a Nashville community that is so supportive and engaged when it comes to artists based here. Ensworth has always been so supportive of my art from an early age, and I still treasure the many lessons I learned from Ms. Pickel and Mr. Arthur."
