Ensworth summer global learning trips provide opportunities for Ensworth students to develop a global view of the world through cultural immersionintercultural connections, and experiential learning in international contexts. These trips aim to inspire students to be engaged and capable as global citizens in an interconnected 21st century. To facilitate these trips, Ensworth partners with a limited number of established, well-researched, and trusted organizations that help ensure safe and meaningful experiences for our students and their families.

Middle School Summer Trips

  • Florida Keys

    For rising Grade 7 Ensworth students only; students must be enrolled at Ensworth for the 2020-2021 school year at the time of the trip.
     
    Dates: July 30 – August 4, 2020
    Cost: $2,100 if registered with a non-refundable deposit of $500 before the registration deadline of May 1. Students added after May 1 may incur additional fees associated with increased airline ticket costs.

    The Florida Keys adventure is the perfect balance of fun and learning. During our time in Orlando, students will enjoy fun-filled time with their friends at Islands of Adventure, Blizzard Beach, Disney Magic Kingdom, and Disney Springs. While we are in the Keys, we will be based at Sea Camp at the Newfound Harbor Marine Institute where the students will study marine biology and coastal ecology in a hands-on manner through activities including snorkeling, night wades, and interactive lab activities.

  • Belize

    For rising Grade 8 Ensworth students only; students must be enrolled at Ensworth for the 2020-2021 school year at the time of the trip.
     
    Dates: May 28 – June 6, 2020
    Cost:  $3,150 plus airfare. $500 non-refundable deposit required at registration.

    The Belize program is hosted at the Tropical Education Center outside of Belize City. Each day, students participate in a service project with St. Matthews Primary School, then spend the afternoon enjoying cultural activities, including visits to the Belize Zoo, the Smithsonian Research Institute, and the ancient Mayan ruins of Xunantunich. At the end of the trip, the group stays on the island of Parrot Caye, where they have the opportunity to snorkel the coral reefs, explore mangrove forests, and enjoy the beautiful island scenery.

  • Outwest

    Current Grade 8 Ensworth students only.
     
    Dates: June 2 – June 19, 2020
    Cost: $2,875
    Registration Deadline: January 31, 2020

    On the Out West trip, students travel the west for eighteen days, camping under the stars every night, visiting historic sites, and viewing beautifully scenic landscapes. Past years’ activities have included swimming, hiking, surfing, rafting, sightseeing, and much more. Campers return with a group experience that can’t happen in the classroom.

  • Morocco

    Rising Grades 10-12 Ensworth students only; students must be enrolled at Ensworth for the 2019-2020 school year at the time of the trip.

    The Morocco program begins in Marrakech, where students will quickly become immersed in this bustling ancient city. The group will visit local Mosques, museums, and get lost exploring the maze-like medina quarter. The group will then depart for the host community of Asni. Asni is a small mountain town in the high Atlas Mountains. Here, students will stay with local families in order to learn about the Berber culture and history. During the day, they will work at a local school on a Community Project and explore the area while meeting local leaders to gain a better understanding of the culture. Students will visit a local women's handicraft cooperative and a rug cooperative to see how the community is utilizing these ancient techniques.
  • Tanzania

    The Tanzania program takes place near Arusha, in Northern Tanzania, which is about 32 miles from the Kilimanjaro International Airport, and surrounded by Tanzania’s most important national parks and game reserves. The program begins in Moshi and then moves to Karatu, to partner with Banjika Secondary School students on the primary Community Project, designed in consultation with the needs and desires of the local community. The program includes a visit to the Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive with friends from Banjika Secondary School into the crater in hopes of spotting lions, elephants, rhinos, wildebeest and more.
With the exception of the Out West trip, 2019 summer trips are open to Ensworth students who are enrolled or will be enrolled in the 2019–2020 school year. If a student registers for a summer trip and withdraws from Ensworth, he/she will be unable to attend, and the trip deposit will be forfeited. Please read individual trip descriptions for details on eligibility.
 
Please note that any student on Probation due to a Major Offense during the 2018-2019 school year would not be eligible to travel on summer global learning trips.
