Ensworth has a brand new, state-of-the-art golf facility at the High School Campus. Housed on the top floor of the Tennis Center's parking garage, the training center includes TrackMan technology and the only Gears system in Nashville.

Golf Coaches

Virgil Herring

Virgil Herring joined Ensworth in 2017 as the Head Coach of the High School Varsity Golf team. Herring received his degree in Professional Golf Management and Marketing from Mississippi State University and qualified as a Golf Professional in 1994.
 
Herring has an extensive background in golf instruction, with more than 19 years of experience and over 32,000 lessons taught. He is a Charter Member Golf Channel Academy Lead Instructor and a two-time recipient of the Tennessee PGA Section Teacher of the Year. Herring has taught two PGA tour winners, two Web.com Tour winners, and more than 154 junior golfers who have earned college golf scholarships.

Pat Sellers

Pat began his career caddying for Loren Roberts in 1983 followed by caddying for Tom Lehman in 1984. Pat has represented many products to the tour players over the past 34 years almost all dealing with putters and putting aids. This gave him the opportunity to spend hours and hours every week with the greatest putters on earth. His fascination with putting has been a lifelong adventure.

Pat uses SAM PuttLab technology to verify and validate technique and skill.

Stephen Hodge

Stephen Hodge moved to Nashville in 2006 from Cedar Rapids, Iowa. His love for golf led him to a position as a club builder at a local golf shop. After gaining the skills and passion for club fitting and building, Stephen received an offer to work as the club builder/fitter for See-More Putter. Throughout the years, Stephen has built and fit clubs for numerous professional and amateur golfers. His passion for the game is what motivates him to deliver real results to golfers of all skill levels and make the game more exciting.

Barney Alary

Born and raised in Montreal, Canada, Barney Alary has been playing and coaching golf in Middle Tennessee for over 30 years. The son of a professional golfer, Barney played golf at Austin Peay State University from 1988 to 1992 and won 30 junior, amateur, college, and professional tournaments. Through his relationship with several golf organizations, he has helped many young golfers progress to the collegiate level.

    In this camp, students will receive instruction from top-level coaches on the fundamentals of golf. Campers will begin the morning working on their golf skills at Harpeth Valley Golf Center and then enjoy an hour of games and activities on Ensworth’s High School Campus. Min 10/Max 12

    Want to improve your golf game this summer? Golf Skill Development camp is designed for golfers who have an understanding of the fundamentals of golf and have played multiple age-appropriate rounds. Campers will receive instruction from acclaimed golf coach Virgil Herring on how to fine-tune their golf swing, analyze their putting stroke, learn the fine points of bunker play and more. Coach Herring will perform a full swing evaluation, short game assessment, mental skills assessment and work with the golfer on their course strategy. Max 4
