Time is vital to success in swimming, and it is equally vital to recognize that the time we treasure is just as important as the time we measure.
Treasured time in swimming is time spent forging relationships with friends, teammates, coaches, and competitors. It is time spent challenging, supporting, and encouraging teammates during practice and cheering for them at meets. It is time that is spent training with purpose and having fun while doing it.
The time that is measured is equally important. Whether an athlete is trying to qualify for a particular competition or set a record, times give athletes something to chase and provide one aspect of determining a success on the team.
