High School Film Studio Wins Student Production Award for "In Plain Sight"

We are thrilled to share that our High School Film Studio has been named a 2026 Student Production Award recipient by the MidSouth/Nashville chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) for their film In Plain Sight. The film was recognized in the Best Director category, honoring the creative vision and leadership behind the project.

While the award is presented in the directing category, the Film Studio emphasizes that the achievement reflects the collective effort of the entire class. From concept to final cut, students collaborated across every aspect of the production, bringing the story to life through a shared creative process.

Awards and nominations are determined by judges’ scores, making this recognition especially meaningful. The project was also part of a tie in its category, an outcome that carries the same distinction as a win.

During the live-streamed ceremony, the category announcement begins around the 27-minute mark, with the Film Studio’s win and student acceptance speeches delivered by Gabriel Dean ’26 and Peter Bryant ’26 shortly after at 28:52.

As part of this honor, In Plain Sight has been automatically submitted for consideration at the national level. Nominees will be announced in October, with national recipients recognized in November.

In addition, the Film Studio plans to submit the film to Nashville film festivals later this year. We congratulate our talented student filmmakers and faculty mentors on this outstanding achievement and look forward to what’s ahead!
