Quinn Taylor '27 Highlights Story of Courage and Resilience in Student Speaker Series

As part of our Student Speaker Series, Quinn Taylor ’27 recently presented “Will I Still Be the Same? My Epilepsy Experience,” sharing his personal journey with epilepsy and educating peers about the condition. Quinn reflected on the first time he experienced a seizure and the uncertainty he initially felt, wondering how it might affect his life, relationships, and how others perceived him.

Through honesty and vulnerability, Quinn explained what epilepsy is, what seizures can look like, and some of the triggers that can cause them, such as becoming overtired. He spoke about the importance of prioritizing his health and managing the condition with medication, emphasizing that while epilepsy has changed how he takes care of himself, it has not changed who he is.

Quinn spoke about how he has overcome the optics of epilepsy, first being empowered by being an athlete, a student, and a friend, committed to pursuing his passions and goals. By sharing his story, Quinn embodied the courage, self-awareness, and empathy at the heart of our community, helping classmates better understand epilepsy while highlighting the strength he continues to find in his journey each day.
