Ensworth Seniors Earn National Merit Recognition

Ensworth Seniors Earn National Merit Recognition

Ensworth is proud to celebrate nine members of the Class of 2027 who have been recognized in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program, including seven seniors named National Merit Semifinalists and two named Commended Students.

Caroline Cox, Anders Damp, Sutton Korn, Christian Kurtz, Duncan Rademacher, Soren Sugalski, and Audrey Tan have been named National Merit Semifinalists, placing them among the highest-scoring participants in the nation on the 2025 PSAT/NMSQT. More than 16,000 students nationwide earned the distinction this year, representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors.

Ensworth seniors Tully Johnson and Daniel Maumus have also earned national recognition as Commended Students. They are among approximately 34,000 students throughout the nation recognized for their exceptional academic promise.

The National Merit Scholarship Program recognizes students for outstanding academic performance and potential. Each year, approximately 1.3 million high school students enter the competition by taking the PSAT/NMSQT. The program recognizes approximately 50,000 of the highest-scoring participants, with Semifinalists and Commended Students making up the two largest groups of recognized students.

For the seven Ensworth Semifinalists, the recognition marks an important step in the National Merit competition. Semifinalists have the opportunity to continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships.

These honors reflect the academic excellence and intellectual curiosity of the Class of 2027. At Ensworth, we believe academic achievement is rooted not only in what students accomplish, but in how they engage with ideas—asking thoughtful questions, pursuing challenges, collaborating with others and using their talents to make meaningful contributions.

We are proud to recognize Caroline, Anders, Sutton, Christian, Duncan, Soren, Audrey, Tully, and Daniel for this significant accomplishment and look forward to celebrating all they will accomplish in the years ahead.

Congratulations to these outstanding members of the Class of 2027!
