Tearing Down the Walls at Ensworth
Last weekend, Ensworth hosted a significant event that brought together 15 independent schools, attracting 92 students and 55 faculty members from Nashville, Chattanooga, Memphis, and Atlanta. Among the attendees were eleven Ensworth students, six of whom played crucial roles in planning and setting up the event and participated in all sessions. Eight Ensworth faculty members also attended, each contributing by either helping to plan and manage the conference or by conducting sessions for faculty or students.
The conference featured discussions on vital topics such as Civil Discourse, Truth and Justice as Prerequisites to Racial Unity, and Navigating Leadership Pathways For People of Color in Independent Schools.
Keynote speakers included Dr. Joy DeGruy, Kimia Ferdowsi Kline, Joanne Beauvoir Brown, J.D., Dr. Kenyetta Wynn, and Jim Miller. Special thanks go to Mary Catherine Bradshaw, Oman Frame, Dr. Crystal Miller, Ashley Glotta, and Dr. Tracy Walls for their workshops and presentations.
