Ensworth is proud to recognize the outstanding accomplishment of alumnus Nolan White ’24, who has been cast in the lead role of Ponyboy Curtis in the upcoming North American tour of The Outsiders, the 2024 Tony Award winner for Best Musical.

The national tour will begin performances on September 17, 2025, at Shea’s Buffalo Theatre in Buffalo, NY, with its official opening in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where the story is set, on October 7, 2025.

The Outsiders is adapted from S.E. Hinton’s acclaimed novel and the Francis Ford Coppola film, following the lives of young people in 1967 Tulsa as they navigate class divides, personal identity, and the meaning of family.

Nolan will lead a talented cast under the direction of a Tony Award-winning director, bringing S.E. Hinton’s timeless story to audiences across the country. Joining a distinguished ensemble of performers, Nolan and his cast will be bringing the show to Nashville at TPAC from October 14 to October 19, 2025. Join us to see Nolan star as Ponyboy during these performances! Please kindly note that Nolan will not perform during the Friday or Saturday matinee performances of these dates.

Musical Theater Director, Shawn Knight shared his excitement around Nolan's casting, saying, "I admire Nolan for his work ethic, commitment to developing his craft, and optimistic support of those around him. Over the four years I worked with him in musicals at Ensworth, he was fearless and dove head-first into every artistic challenge put to him. The results were consistently engaging and energetic performances. Ensworth was blessed to see his work regularly, and now the entire country will get to share that!"

Nolan’s casting as Ponyboy marks a significant milestone in his artistic career, and we are so proud of his dedication, talent, and perseverance. Congratulations, Nolan! We cannot wait to see your performances and success as you travel across the United States!
