Kennedy Aderogba ’24 Named University of Pittsburgh Drum Major, Making History

We are thrilled to share extraordinary news about alumna Kennedy Aderogba ’24, who has been selected as the next Drum Major for the University of Pittsburgh Marching Band. In earning this prestigious role, Kennedy becomes both the youngest student ever to hold the position and the first African American Drum Major in the program’s history.

This remarkable accomplishment is a testament to Kennedy’s grit, tenacity, and unwavering determination. What makes her achievement even more inspiring is that she joined the Pitt Band with no prior marching band experience. Guided by her deep love of music and an eagerness to grow, Kennedy committed herself fully to learning, improving, and rising to every challenge placed before her.

Through a relentless work ethic and steadfast belief in herself, Kennedy quickly distinguished herself as a leader among her peers. Her selection as Drum Major reflects not only her musical talent but also her character, discipline, and ability to inspire those around her.

We could not be prouder of Kennedy for this historic milestone and the example she sets for current and future students. Congratulations, Kennedy! The entire Ensworth community celebrates with you as you step into this incredible leadership role at the University of Pittsburgh.
