Chaz Lanier ’20 Drafted by Detroit Pistons in Second Round of NBA Draft
Before hearing his name called on one of the biggest nights of his basketball journey, Ensworth alumnus Chaz Lanier ’20 shared a meaningful moment on the court with his brother, fellow Ensworth graduate Trey Lanier ’18. The two scrimmaged earlier this week, putting in extra work and reflecting on how far Chaz had come since his days playing at Ensworth.
On Thursday night, June 26, Chaz was selected as the 37th overall pick in the second round of the 2025 NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons. His selection marks a major milestone in a remarkable basketball journey—one marked by perseverance, talent, and hard work. Chaz made headlines during his standout season at the University of Tennessee, where he averaged 18.0 points per game and emerged as one of the nation’s top shooters.
In 38 games, Chaz broke Tennessee’s single-season record for made three-pointers, sinking 123 shots from beyond the arc and surpassing the previous record of 118. As he takes the next step in his career, the Ensworth community celebrates his success and looks forward to cheering him on in the NBA. We couldn’t be prouder of Chaz and the legacy he continues to build!
