Spirit Activities

Students in all grades enjoy spirit-building activities during the year. The Lower and Middle Schools have four Spirit Days throughout the year. And high school students have a Spirit Week each spring. These spirit activities are designed to bring the school together and encourage healthy competition among the student body.
At the Lower/Middle School Campus spirit days, students dress in the school colors of orange and black, and attend an all-campus Spirit Assembly. During the assembly, each of the sports teams for that quarter are introduced and celebrated, with games and relays between the Orange & Black teams. Names are drawn out of a hat for each team, and members of each team compete in fun contests while other students cheer them on.

At the High School campus, Spirit Week means a week of house competition activities, with points going toward the Devon Cup. The student government and house captains decide on  themes for dress-up days during the week. Each year there is a House Color Day, with the house with the highest percentage of people dressed in their color earning points toward the Devon Cup. The week also includes activities like the egg toss, Guitar Hero, and more. A Spirit Week favorite is “Mr. Morgan Says.” The Head of High School, David Morgan, is a formidable “Simon” for the students and creates a competitive and exciting game. Spirit Week brings together students of all grade levels to compete for their team and build school spirit. The captains of the winning team are awarded the Devon Cup at Awards Day in May.
