High School Honey Bee Harvesting

E-Honey Places 4th in Tennessee State Fair

Honey harvested on Ensworth’s High School Campus won 4th place at the Tennessee State Fair in mid-September.
Students at the High School Campus first started raising honeybees and harvesting honey in 2017 as a part of a Service Learning project. Under the supervision of Mike Ireland, science teacher and experienced beekeeper, the students established the hives and took care of the bees over several months. Then they harvested and bottled the honey, which was made available for purchase at the Ensworth Spirit Store, with proceeds going to charity.

Look for this year’s harvest in the Spirit Stores soon!
