Rita Johnson ’18 to Compete in International Triathlon Championships

Rita Johnson ’18 discovered her passion for triathlon just two years ago but has quickly advanced to the international level. She will represent Team USA at this year’s ITU World Championship in Australia.
UPDATE: At the World Championship in Gold Coast, Australia, Rita placed 15th overall for her age group, with the 4th fastest swim time and the 8th fastest run time.

Johnson competed at last year’s 2017 USA Triathlon National Championship in Omaha with a finish that earned her a spot in this year’s World Championship. She also placed third in her age group at this year’s Nationals in Cleveland, qualifying her for the 2019 World Championships in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The 2018 World Championships will be held in Gold Coast, Australia, September 12-16, 2018. She is one of nine athletes that will be competing on Team USA in her age group. Read more about Rita’s journey on her fundraising site.

Rita and her twin sister, Margaret, signed in April to swim at Rhodes College.
