Ensworth Announces New Head Football Coach

After a very successful 14-year run, Ricky Bowers is handing over the reins as Ensworth’s Head Football Coach. Ensworth is excited to announce that Assistant Defensive Football Coach Jeremy Garrett will be the school’s new Head Football Coach.
Bowers was named Athletic Director for Ensworth in May 2002 and has served as Head Football Coach and Head Boys' Basketball Coach since Ensworth’s High School opened in 2004. In his 14 years coaching varsity football at Ensworth, Bowers led his teams to four state championship titles in 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013. He was inducted into the Tennessee Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame in December 2017. Bowers will continue to serve as the Head Boys’ Basketball Coach, Athletic Director, and Associate Head of School at Ensworth.

Bowers shares, “This is the perfect time for me to hand off the leadership of the football program, and Jeremy Garrett is the best person for the job. His love of our students, remarkable humility, rock-solid integrity, tireless work ethic, and unique ability to build unity attract everyone to him. I am confident that our football program will thrive under his leadership.”

Jeremy Garrett currently serves as Ensworth’s Associate Director of Admissions, Assistant Defensive Football Coach and Assistant Track Coach. Prior to Garrett’s role in admissions, he was the Chair of the Fitness Department at Ensworth. Before joining Ensworth, Garrett served as Assistant Football Coach, Head Track and Field Coach, and Strength and Conditioning Coach at Southaven High School in Southaven, MS. Garrett was a scholarship player at The University of Mississippi, where he was a four-year letterman in football while earning awards for All SEC Academic Team, Ole Miss Lifter of the Year, and the Chucky Mullins Courage Award. He earned a B.B.A. from The University of Mississippi and a M.B.A. from Harding University.

“I feel extremely blessed and honored to serve as Head Football Coach at Ensworth. This is a fantastic opportunity to do what I love and to develop, mentor, lead, and coach young men. It is exciting to lead a football program at a school that seeks excellence in both academics and athletics. I would like to thank Athletic Director Ricky Bowers, Head of School David Braemer, and the entire Ensworth community for this amazing opportunity,” states Garrett.
