60th Academic Year Set to Eclipse All Others

The 2017-2018 academic year—the 60th in the school's history—began at Ensworth on Wednesday, August 16.
The yearly traditions started in earnest on Friday, August 18 with the T-Shirt Assembly. David Braemer, Head of School, honored the Grade 8 class by presenting each student with the official, custom-designed class t-shirt.

On Monday, August 21, the students on both Ensworth campuses gathered for the total solar eclipse that moved in a southwesterly course across the United States. The “E-Clipse” wowed the Ensworth community with near total darkness, a 360° “sunset,” crescent-shaped shadows, and shimmering “Baily’s beads” as the moon slowly blocked the sun.

And on Friday, August 25, the Lower and Middle School students assembled to elect captains for the Black and Orange teams. After impassioned speeches by eight candidates, Grade 4–8 students submitted their ballots. The votes were tallied, and the captains were announced over the school PA system. The Orange captains are Harper Dale and Rogers McDougall. The Black captains are Catherine Duvall and Takis Patikas.
