Black and Orange Captains Elected
Black and Orange are not just Ensworth’s school colors; they are the basis of a long-standing spirited tradition that dates back to the 1960s.
When students are in Kindergarten, they are assigned to the Orange or Black team, and they remain an “Orange” or “Black” throughout their time on the Red Gables Campus. Generational traditions live on as family members are always assigned to the same team. Early in the year, Grade 8 students nominate four captains who give speeches to K-8 students at an assembly. Then Grades 4-8 vote for their Team Captain for the year.
The candidates for Orange and Black Captains for the 2022-2023 school year were Mills Darst and Hollis Jacobs (girl candidates for Orange Captain); Makaylah Batten and Katie Hooper (girl candidates for Black Captain); Grey Rosen and Cutler Smith (boy candidates for Orange Captain); and Tom Courtney and Harrison Hampton (boy candidates for Black Captain).
