Ensworth Announces New Head of Middle School

After conducting an extensive national search, Ensworth is excited to announce that Dr. Darwin Mason, Jr. will be the new Head of Middle School beginning Summer 2021. 
Mason previously served on Ensworth’s Middle School faculty as a history teacher from 2008-2012 before taking on leadership positions in the Franklin Special School District and the Metro Nashville Public School system. Presently, he is the Executive Principal of the John Early Museum Magnet Middle School in Nashville, where he has been leading a student body of 300 and a faculty of 35 for the past three years. In his career as an educator, Mason has had a broad range of experiences as a teacher, administrator, and leader of extracurricular activities. 

A graduate of Fisk University with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Vocal Performance and Psychology, Mason went on to earn a Masters of Education in Administration and Supervision from Tennessee State University before completing a Doctorate in Learning Organizations and Strategic Change from Lipscomb University.
 
Head of School David Braemer states, “Darwin has demonstrated both the commitment and the capacity to develop the types of relationships with students, faculty, parents, and administration that will help to maximize the potential of our Middle School program. Colleagues have described Darwin as a tremendous motivator who has successfully led every school of which he has been a part to new heights. In returning to Ensworth, Darwin will build upon our foundational strengths and help us continue to improve as a school in an inclusive, intentional manner.”
