Bill Arthur to Exhibit Coast to Coast

Although quite a prodigious canoeist, retired long-time Ensworth art teacher Bill Arthur won’t attempt to paddle between his latest two juried exhibitions.
“I have been spending most of my time making art, specifically woodblock prints,” explains Mr. Arthur about his retirement from teaching. The pandemic made displaying his art locally difficult, but he has found creative ways to share his work more broadly.

Two galleries on opposite coasts have accepted Bill’s work for their juried exhibitions. The Cultural Center of Cape Cod in South Yarmouth, Massachusetts accepted one piece for their “Abstractions 2020” show which is set to run October 28–November 22. And Arts Benicia in California’s Bay Area accepted three pieces for the “Get the Message - Words and Images” virtual show that will be online November 14–December 31.

One subject that finds its way into many of his works comes from a long-standing Ensworth tradition of his summer trips canoeing in the wilderness of Quetico Provincial Park in Ontario, Canada. “The color of the skies, the water, the hills, the wind, the weather, the rain, the lakes,” he describes, “have all printed indelibly upon me during the past 32 summers paddling a canoe through this immense, intimate, wilderness. It is an impression born of joy, pleasure, weariness, and solitude.”

Join us in congratulating Mr. Arthur in pursuing his passion after many years of dedicated service to the Ensworth community. Feel free to drop him a line to catch up.
