Girls Basketball Wins Second Straight State Championship

The High School girls’ basketball team won their sixth and second-straight state championship with their defeat of Brentwood Academy 73-53 on Saturday, March 7.
With the win, the team rounded out their first undefeated season and tied the school record with 29 wins. Their complete undefeated streak stands at 45. The girls finished the season with a top 10 national ranking in the MaxPreps Xcellent 25.

Jaloni Cambridge and Kaiya Wynn were selected to the All-State Tournament team, and Dontavia Waggoner was the State Tournament MVP. Waggoner was named to the Tennesseean All-Midstate team and also won the TSSAA Division II-AA "Miss Basketball" award for the second year in a row. Kaiya Wynn was also a finalist. All three were named on the Tennessee Sports Writers Association All-State team.

Congratulations to Tennessean Coach of the Year Mary Taylor Cowles, Assistant coaches Ashley Glotta and Krystle Horton, and all the Tigers on an outstanding season.
