Announcing the New Head of Lower School: Heather Caponi

After conducting an extensive national search, Ensworth is excited to announce that Heather Caponi will be the new Head of Lower School beginning Summer 2020.
Caponi is currently the Primary and Lower School Head at Brookfield Academy, a pK-12th grade coeducational day school of 840 students in suburban Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In her twenty-four years as an educator, Caponi has gained extensive classroom experience, having taught pre-Kindergarten, first, third, and fourth grades. On the administrative side, she has served as a Professional Development Coordinator, an Assistant Lower School Head, and, for the past nine years, a Primary and Lower School Head.

Caponi received her Bachelor of Arts in American Studies from Colby College, graduating Magna Cum Laude. She then went on to earn a Masters of Education from the University of San Diego and is currently a Doctoral Candidate in Educational Leadership and Innovation from Arizona State University.

Head of School David Braemer states, “Throughout the search process, Heather demonstrated an unwavering commitment to developing the types of relationships with students, faculty, parents, and administration that will help to maximize the potential of our Lower School program. In addition, her poise and clear communication style impressed the various constituents with whom she met while visiting campus. In coming to Ensworth, Heather is excited to work with an outstanding faculty to help us continue to strive toward the realization of the ideals of our Mission and Vision in an inclusive, intentional manner.”
