Ensworth to Break Ground on New Lower School Building

Ensworth announced Thursday, November 7 that the school will break ground in summer 2020 on a transformative new phase of the Red Gables Campus located at 211 Ensworth Avenue.
Major enhancements, to be completed by the 2021-2022 school year, will include the construction of:
  • An expansive, two-story lower school building, which will provide larger classrooms for Grades 3-5 as well as offices and support spaces for faculty and students;
  • Immersive world language classrooms and modern science labs to strengthen and support programs for all lower school students; and
  • A larger space for the school’s AfterCare program.
Other elements of this stage of construction will include the completion of a loop road around campus and improvements to the lower school playground. Plans are in process for a companion K-2 building, which is slated as the next step in the development of the Red Gables Campus.

Ensworth Head of School David Braemer shares, “Given the foundational and formative nature of the lower school experience, we believe it is essential to provide an environment that ensures Ensworth’s lower school continues to be an educational leader. This project is another important step in our ongoing commitment to programmatic excellence across Grades K-12.”

This announcement follows the recent renovations to the school’s dining hall and track and field, made possible by the “Excellence Begins with E” capital campaign that has raised $24MM to support Ensworth’s strategic priorities.
