High School Students Sling Slime to Build Community

Two High School advisory groups squared off in a slimy, but delicious competition during the Prescribed Community Learning (PCL) period last week.
Teresa Todd and Rich Mischinski’s Grade 11 advisories teamed up, with the boys and girls from each squaring off to make edible slime in under ten minutes. Teams had to consider what combination of oil, water, sugar, corn starch, and other ingredients would yield the best flavor and consistency.

Judges were Head of High School David Morgan, Stephanie Watson of the kitchen staff, and J.J. Anthony, who serves as College Counselor, History Teacher, and Scheduler. Due to the extreme danger, the edible goo posed to their attire, each judge donned a Tiger Cub baby bib. They awarded points to each team based on the appearance, taste, and texture of their slime.

The girls went home with the prize for their slime, a marshmallow and Starburst combo.
