Ensworth Presents: Searchers

This year’s spring play represents a first for the Ensworth Theatre program. Due to Ensworth’s artist-in-residence program, we were able to recruit Playwright-in-Residence, Laurie Brooks, to come onboard and create a new, original play with the input and help of our students. Laurie Brooks is an award-winning playwright who is known for her innovative After-Play forum designs that are changing the way audiences engage with the post-performance experience.
Dozens of Ensworth students have worked with Laurie in a series of workshops going back to last September to conceive of and refine the central themes and questions that were to be explored in this new play, as well as its plot and various characters. Many of those students are represented in the cast that finally brings that work to the stage this week.

Our new play, Searchers, explores questions of personal identity and relationships between teenagers and their peers and parents. The performance culminates in an interactive "Forum," which invites the audience to join the play's characters in a live, moderated exchange continuing the exploration of the play's themes and questions.

We invite you to joins us for a performance this Thursday, Friday or Saturday, April 27th-29th, at 7:00 in the mainstage theatre at the high school campus. The play contains mature content and is intended only for High School students and adults.
