Colin Murray ’20 Repeats Win at MathCON Finals

Colin Murray ’20 was again named the MathCON National Champion for his grade level. He competed against 3,757 Grade 11 students, 62 of whom were invited to the final round at McCormick Place in Chicago. Grade 6 student Lily Bowen earned an Honorable Mention medal at the MathCON finals.
Murray won the same competition for his grade level in 2018 and has won various regional math competitions, most notably in Precalculus.

Karen Boles, Colin’s teacher for AP Calculus BC this year, says: “Colin's curiosity and analytical skills in calculus are outstanding. He has an ability to generate solutions to problems that are not just correct, but also efficient. ‘The sky's the limit’ is a phrase that suits him perfectly with regard to his potential in math. I am excited to see what the future holds for Colin.”
