Social Issues Conference 2019

Ensworth Invites Community to Friday's Social Issues Conference

Ensworth is hosting the 2019 Social Issues Conference on Friday, April 26 from 8 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. on the High School Campus at 7401 Highway 100. The event offers attendees the opportunity to learn more about various local nonprofits and how to get involved, volunteer, and make a difference in the Nashville community.
The Keynote Speaker for the event at 8:00 am is Dr. Rena Hall with Together We Can Consultants. Dr. Hall has been a leading innovator in the educational arena for the past 26 years, holding positions in higher education, nonprofit management, and the federal government. As a celebration of the collaborative efforts between our nonprofit partners and our school community this year, the closing assembly will feature comedian Marty Simpson at 1:45 pm.

Representatives from more than 20 different nonprofits will offer brief educational and interactive presentations about their organizations. Attendees have the opportunity to visit four different workshops throughout the morning beginning at 8:55 am. At 12:30 pm, Ensworth Senior students will share insights and lessons from their own experiences volunteering in the community.

Participating organizations include Souls4Souls, GiGi’s Playhouse, HEAL Ministries, Shower the People, Spreading Sunshine, and Rose’s Women’s Foundation, among others. Students and faculty from schools across Nashville will be in attendance.

Ensworth invites community partners to tell their story and interact with a group of 15–25 students in a classroom in four time slots. Presenters will share information about their organization, describe the social issue the organization addresses, and explain how people can get involved and help.

The conference, which is free and includes lunch, is open to the community. Please RSVP to Greg Eubanks, Service Learning Coordinator, via this link or phone 615-586-4466.
