Prospective families can initiate a visit to campus anytime, but the application process does not begin until the year before your child would start at Ensworth. Most families visit during the fall, and all admission requirements are completed throughout the winter. The primary admission and enrollment season concludes in early March, although applications may be considered after that depending on space at that time. Application Process

We encourage families to take advantage of the admission events offered on campus each year, as they will give you various academic and community perspectives of the school. The best way to get specific questions answered is to schedule an individual tour of Ensworth during the school day. Our admission team is dedicated to caring for you throughout the application process, so relying on them to answer your questions and connect you to helpful resources is the best way to determine the fit for your child and family.

Events & Visits

You will receive an email confirmation when you have scheduled a visit to campus or registered to attend an event. Please be sure that you know what campus you are visiting (Red Gables for Grades K-8 or Frist Campus for Grades 9-12). Typically, the tour or event will cover most important topics but we are happy to answer any questions you may have.

A child’s involvement in the admission process will vary depending on their age. All applicants to Grades 5-12 are encouraged to participate in a student shadow visit so that they can observe classes and interact with current students and faculty. For applicants to kindergarten, they are invited to campus for their admission evaluation where they will be able to interact with a small group of other applicants. Additional options to be on campus may be available, so we advise you to ask the Director of Admission for options if you are interested. 

We finalize our admission decisions for all applicants with completed files by March 1, 2025. We post decisions on an applicant’s online portal, and instructions on responding are included as well.

Yes, the financial aid process is separate from the admission process, but it happens during a similar timeline. All accepted applicants who have applied for financial aid will receive notification about their financial aid when enrollment contracts are posted on March 1, 2025. Tuition & Financial Aid

While we do not specify an age cutoff, we determine a child’s readiness for kindergarten through a developmental evaluation that can be influenced by their age. We will recommend that younger children wait a year to start kindergarten if it would be beneficial. We are happy to discuss the age profile/composition of our typical kindergarten class.
