A teacher recommendation form from the applicant’s current teacher is required. Forms can be downloaded using the link below. We ask that you submit recommendation requests after December 1, 2024 so that the teacher has sufficient experience with your child to give thorough feedback. If your child’s school has a policy that does not allow teachers to complete the form, please request the Optional Recommendation Form from the admission office so that it can be sent to an adult who has worked closely with your child in another capacity (example- coach, mentor, tutor, youth leader, etc.)

Evaluations vary by grade level. An email with instructions will be sent when scheduling becomes available for Kindergarten and Grade 1 testing.

All Grade 2-4 applicants are required to take the Independent School Entrance Exam. Registration is available on the ISEE website, and scores can be submitted to Ensworth using the code 432520. The ISEE should be completed by mid-February at the latest. Late applicants should contact the admission office regarding this step.

Teacher recommendation forms from the applicant’s current English and Math teachers are required. If both subjects are taught by the same teacher, they should complete the first page of subject-specific questions on both forms but only need to complete the second page on one of the forms. All applicants must complete the Applicant Statement Form and submit it to Ensworth. This information will help us understand what is most significant to you, and will also allow us an opportunity to assess your writing skills. We would like you to complete this form in your own words. Please note that just like you should not ask someone else to do your work for you, you should not ask a generative AI to do so either. The form can be downloaded below.

Applicant STATEMENT Form

Spaces in grades 10-12 are limited. The first step for prospective families interested in grades 10-12 is to submit an unofficial transcript, progress reports, or a list of past and current high school classes. This allows Ensworth to access any graduation requirement concerns. Please send course information to Julie Harris. In addition to the regular application requirements, 10-12 grade applicants will be required to complete additional proficiency testing. Note: We accept the PSAT or SSAT in lieu of the ISEE. Results must be no more than a year old.

Recommended Deadline: February 2025

All applicants are required to take the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE). Students can test at Ensworth on November 16, 2024 and February 1, 2025, although many other options are available. The February 1 test date is for applicants to Ensworth only and requires an event code to register. Please contact the admission office to receive the event code. To submit scores to Ensworth, use the school code 432520. The ISEE should be completed by mid-February at the latest.
