Athletics
TRACK AND FIELD
Days: Monday - Friday
Season begins Tuesday, February 20
There will be a boys and girls track team. Teams will be divided into Varsity and Junior Varsity.
GOLF
Days: Girls Varsity: Practice on Thursday, Matches on Wednesday
Boys Varsity: Practice on Tuesday, Matches on Monday
Girls and Boys Junior Varsity: Practice/Matches on Thursdays
Season begins Tuesday, February 20, 2025. tryouts will take place on multiple dates in October.
Teams are divided into Varsity and Junior Varsity with limited roster space. Students must be “match ready” to tryout. This includes completing 3 rounds of 9 holes and keeping their own score prior to the start of the season. Home is Harpeth Valley Golf Center. Qualifying practice will be March 4, 2025.
SOFTBALL
Days: Monday - Friday
Tryouts for team placement and practice begin Tuesday, February 20.
Depending on numbers, teams will be divided into Varsity and Junior Varsity. Home field is at Red Gables.
Equipment Required: glove, mask (provided by Ensworth). Suggested: cleats (no metal), slider shorts and/or leg guard.

Spring Season Athletics Information
- Students still participating in basketball tournaments and the winter play will fulfill their obligation before beginning spring sports
- Students participating in other after-school activities cannot join a spring sports team as attendance at practices and games is required
- One sport or one sport plus track and field
- Students choosing this option are required to:
- Choose a primary sport as a priority over the other when conflicts arise
- Attend practice for their primary sport unless they’re attending a track and field meet and have communicated with their primary sport’s coach
- Attend morning track and field workouts
- Practices and games are after school at various locations - coaches will provide team schedules
- Practices and games are outdoors so be sure to bring appropriate clothing each day, including sweatshirts, sweatpants, hats, gloves, etc.
- Because spring weather is especially unpredictable, coaches will make every effort to inform families about practice and game changes and/or cancellations by 1 p.m. each day

Winter Season Details
Athletics
SWIM TEAM
Days: Monday-Friday
Time: 3:00-5:00 p.m.
The team practices Monday - Friday from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Bus transportation will be provided to practice, but we are not able to have a returning bus to Red Gables. Parents must pick up their children at the Ensworth pool at 4:45 p.m. Students participating in basketball may not participate in swimming.
BASKETBALL
Days: Monday-Friday
The basketball season begins Monday, December 2, 2024 and concludes by Friday, February 13, 2025. Practices take place daily, 3:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. or 4:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Those teams practicing from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. will have a supervised study hall after school. Students are expected to be at all practices and games. Students participating in swimming and diving, cheerleading, the winter play, STEM, and robotics may not participate in basketball. Please think about your after-school schedules before committing.

We emphasize the values of discipline, teamwork, and perseverance, creating a supportive and energetic environment.
The cheer season begins Monday, December 2, and concludes by Friday, February 14, 2025. Practices take place Monday-Thursday, 3:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m., or 4:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Those teams practicing from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. will have a supervised study hall after school. Students are expected to participate in practices and games unless excused by a coach. Any Grades 6-8 students may participate. After tryouts, this group will be divided into two teams.
BOWLING TEAM
Twice a week, beginning January 13. Matches take place on Tuesdays beginning February 11 through April 8.
Ensworth Middle School’s Bowling program invites students to participate in the HVAC Bowling league. This after-school activity focuses on the fundamentals of bowling, including proper stance, aim, and technique. Under the guidance of knowledgeable coaches, students enjoy friendly competition while improving their coordination, focus, and teamwork. With regular practice and games, participants gain confidence and discover the fun of this lifelong sport, all while making new friends and enjoying time together off campus.
Where: Tusculum Strike and Spare. Transportation will be provided to practices and games. Parents may be asked to pick up from the lanes.
