A unique curriculum framework has been developed that unites the three major science disciplines within a two-year program during Grades 9 and 10. After successively studying a semester each of Biology, Chemistry and Physics, the fourth semester culminates with studies in Integrated Science. Integrated project based teaching modules are used to emphasize connections among the disciplines, while the boundaries between traditional subject matter categories are tempered. Essential concepts are expanded upon while students become capable of demonstrating proficiency in scientific literacy. Like the synergy that stems from incorporating the Core Skills into every class, this approach allows each field of study to enhance the mastery of every other. Once students have mastered the skills and content in Grades 9 and 10, they may tailor their course selection to upper level science electives that best reflect their interests and abilities.
