English
To foster communication, collaboration, and higher-level thinking skills, English classes run as workshops, using Harkness Method discussions that are supplemented by small group work. Writing to think and writing to learn play an integral part in developing the Core Skills. Students will write continually and read aloud often as they move toward mastery in scrutinizing texts and in writing the expository essay with clarity, coherence, and power. Correct usage, copy-editing skills, and principles of writing well are reinforced throughout all courses.
