Tearing Down The Walls

My service scholar project will center on social justice and the importance of diversity in school. I will take my knowledge from my experiences in diversity, equity, and inclusion boards, and explore how creating diversity in a school environment helps students to grow. I will take the experiences and stories of people at Ensworth and study how relationships between people of cultural differences create the best and most fulfilling experiences. I will also explore the effect of race in a school environment such as Ensworth to illustrate the importance of integrating all people regardless of ethnicity to create a safe space for all students to learn. My final research on social justice will help me plan a seminar hosted at Ensworth in which students will not only have conversations with their classmates but also hear the perspectives of administrators and teachers to understand how diversity will impact our lives as we enter into the next phase of our lives. I will analyze the student's responses and include the positive effects of forward, civilized conversations related to race, social justice, and diversity and how those findings compare to other similar efforts.
