E-Interview with Ensworth Student Government Leaders

This month, we are focusing on leadership. Check out this E-Interview with Peyton Terry (President), Caleb Upkins (Vice President), Sarah Crosby (Junior Class Speaker), and Fletcher Renken (Sophomore Class Speaker).
Who inspires you to be a leader at Ensworth?
“The underclassmen inspire me to be a leader. I want to be a good classmate and example for them on campus.” – Sarah Crosby

“Mrs. Morgan inspires me to be a leader at Ensworth.  She inspires me through her actions, as she has always gone down her own unique path since I have gotten to know her.  She is always authentically herself, which is a characteristic of a leader and is another reason she inspires me to be a leader at Ensworth.” – Caleb Upkins

“Coach Bowers has really inspired me to be a leader. He often speaks at practice about how strong leaders are needed and respected, not just in football and high school, but also in the work force.” – Peyton Terry

What made you want to be a part of the Student Government?
“I wanted to be a part of Student Government to become involved in student life and bring ideas from the student body to the government.”
– Sarah Crosby

I really wanted to get involved at Ensworth. I wanted to represent the class of 2019 and make this the best year possible.” – Fletcher Renken

What is one thing you wish you had known in LS or MS?
“One thing I wish I would have known in LS or MS is that the amount of work I would be doing will only increase throughout high school. Be prepared to work much harder.” – Peyton Terry

“I wish I would have known to make friendships with upperclassmen, because they will be on your teams and in some of your classes in high school. It is also nice to know familiar faces when you start your freshman year.” – Sarah Crosby

What advice would you give our younger students about becoming leaders in the community?
“My advice is to not be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone and try something new, because it does not matter if the experience is good or bad, you will grow in a substantial way and so will the environment around you.” – Caleb Upkins

“I would say to the younger students to branch out, meet someone new, and make new friends. Because the more people you know, the better it is when you are a leader.” – Fletcher Renken
