The College Counseling program believes that each student should take full advantage of the EHS program. Students are encouraged to participate in academics, athletics, community service, and extracurricular activities in order to promote their individuality and talents. By participating to the fullest, students will find the college search a natural step in their educational experience.
Among the many resources available to EHS students and their families in the college search and application process are:
- the counselors in the Office of College Counseling
- the College Summit (junior year retreat) that brings more than a dozen admission officers from leading colleges to campus to work with students on topics such as making the most of college visits, the basics of financial aid, writing college application essays, the college interview and others.
- an experienced educator, Mrs. Sarah Osteen, who is available to review college admission essays and to direct testing for EHS students
- numerous visits to EHS by college admission representatives
- meetings and information sessions conducted by the Office of College Counseling
- special programs hosted by EHS such as Dr. Keith Frome's visit to address writing the college essay
- programs and college fairs held in the Nashville area
- early and frequent standardized testing experience: PSAT testing begins in the eighth grade and continues through the 11th grade
- print and online resources for students and parents
